Chocolate Almond Protein Bars
Sometimes (like anyone), I can get pretty darn lazy.
I search the supermarket isles for vegan protein bars like there is no tomorrow. I love the convenience of having a bar ready for me when the need arises. But, unfortunately, being time-poor and super busy doesn’t help me much when making yummy things in the kitchen.
We have such an extensive range of good quality shelf foods available these days — it seems silly to make your own.
Making your means you can add a little here and something there to make it your own personal and much-loved recipe.
Just like the recipe I’m sharing now, these are as good as done if you have some protein powder in your home, good old oats and some cacao. But, if you are missing anything, improvise and do your best here. Get hold of what you have and run with it.
May this protein bar inspire you to make your little self-made recipe alterations at home.

Chocolate almond protein bars
Makes 11 bars
What you Need
1 cup (240g) almond butter
1 cup (90g) rolled oats
1 cup (96g) vegan chocolate protein powder
6 tbsp. cocoa powder
½ cup (120ml) + 2 tbsp. agave nectar
⅓ cup (56g) vegan chocolate chips
½ tsp. extra virgin coconut oil
optional vegan chocolate drizzle (not included in nutritional calculation)
What you need
- Pour the oats, vegan chocolate protein powder and cocoa powder into a food processor and blitz to break up the oats.
