High Protein & Fat Vs Low Carb

Anywhere you turn for weight loss tips, you can guarantee one of them would be to consume more protein in your diet — while minimising carbohydrates. The notion of high protein and fat is derived from the paleo diet — omitting grains altogether. A lot of people who suffer from gut sensitivities can benefit from this kind of food plan. I do love some of the paleo theories and recipes, that’s for sure. But I do prefer some flexibility if at all possible. Carbs are not the enemy here.

The power of protein

You may wonder why protein is so famous for weight loss and generally classified as the best macronutrient out of fat and carbs.

Without going into too much detail, nine essential amino acids must be consumed in food. Our bodies can’t make them. Some foods provide better protein than others based on their amino acid profile. Complete proteins are usually animal-derived because they contain all the essential amino acids in optimal amounts that the body needs. Foods like eggs, dairy, poultry and fish are some of the best varieties.

What about plant-based protein sources?
