I think you took the words right out of my mouth Carol! Medium has changed a lot of things, and it's not sitting well with many people - including myself.

I always assumed this platform rewarded writers for having a voice, for being of help to others, and therefore receiving compensation and perhaps building a side hustle for themselves. For some of us, that is a goal, and this platform helps us move further towards achieving it.

Now that seems to be forgotten; the writers have been pushed aside somewhat. I can't explain it, but it seems that way to me.

We write because of passion and love for the craft.

It seems like more effort and a dreadfully low return on all fronts.
